‘Game of Thrones’ Dips From Series High; ‘Veep’ Hits Season Best

HBO’s dragons-and-swords fantasy series “Game of Thrones” cooled off a bit in the ratings on Sunday night after hitting two consecutive series highs, while the network’s “Veep” hit a high for the season.

“Game of Thrones” at 9 p.m, drew 6.4 million total viewers, down from last week’s series high of 7.2 million total viewers. Over multiple airings, “Thrones” had a combined 7.7 million total viewers for the night.

The Mike Judge comedy “Silicon Valley” the following hour posted 1.7 million total viewers, also off slightly from last week, when it had 1.8 million total viewers with its initial airing. For the night, “Silicon Valley” had 1.9 million total viewers.

“Veep” at 10:30 hit a season high of 1.1 million total viewers, with 1.3 million total across two plays.

The recently launched “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” at 11 p.m. drew more than 1 million viewers, off from the 1.2 million that it drew last week, with a combined 1.3 million total viewers for the night.
